Dave Penman re-elected as General Secretary
Dave Penman has been re-elected as General Secretary of the FDA for a five-year term.
FDA President Gareth Hills said: “At a time of almost unprecedented uncertainty, the role of the FDA as an honest, pragmatic and influential union is more important than ever. I have no doubt that Dave’s leadership and clear strategic vision will ensure that the FDA delivers on all fronts, while continuing to protect and represent existing members.”
General Secretary Dave Penman said of his re-election: “The political and economic landscape that we work within is extremely challenging for trade unions and their members. The FDA is not immune from those challenges, quite the opposite given the pressure on public finances and the public sector to deliver ever more with ever-decreasing resources.
“As General Secretary of the FDA I have worked, and will continue to work, to provide the strategic direction needed to secure the future of our union and to strengthen its ability to address the challenges that members face.
“Over the next five years, I will strive to ensure that we can grow the FDA’s influence, organisational strength and effectiveness. I am confident that this can be achieved if we continue to be a strong, pragmatic and honest union, with a clear focus on maximising influence to improve the wellbeing and employment conditions of members.”
